152nd Church Anniversary
Hello to Salem-Gilfield Baptist Church members, family, and friends. We have had our Annual Prayer Breakfast and it was a SUCCESS!!!! We had a wonderful time, Praising the LORD for allowing us to celebrate 152 years of GOD's Mercy and Grace.
I thank Mrs. Joy Plunkett and the Teen Town Singers for Blessing us on last Saturday. We lifted up Mr. Andrew C. Williams, a Prayer Warrior, and thanked God for Mr. Williams' sacrifice, dedication, devotion to GOD and to his church, and the community. As our 152nd Anniversary theme says, "Only What You Do For Christ Will Last". GOD has brought us this far and I don't believe HE has brought us this far to leave us.
Mr. Williams touched so many lives in his lifetime and did so many wonderful things for Salem-Gilfield but he did it all for Christ. Mr. Williams was a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon,Trustee, choir member, and I could go on and on. Many thanks to his daughter, Mrs. Joan Patterson who blessed us with her speech about her Dad and his life. I thank her for coming and sharing with us, and we thank GOD for his life.
I am so grateful to GOD for allowing me to be the Chaiperson for our Anniversary/Homecoming for the month of August. We have many activities and I hope that you will take the time to attend some of our activities. We are remembering our past, thanking GOD for our present but looking forward to our future, andthanking GOD for what He has done for us.
Please come out next week for our Revival, August, 15th - 17th, our Picnic, the 19th, our Concert on the 25th and our Big Celebration on the 4th Sunday. Worship (August 27, 2017 at 3:00 PM). Fellowship, Love and Service, this is what we are about. I pray that GOD will put it in your hearts to come HOME and let's PRAISE THE LORD TOGETHER!!!!! If you don't have a church home or if you are looking for a church home, please come and visi us.
We are embarking on a new day at Salem-Gilfield. We are praying, Praising and Grateful for all that GOD has done for us. All we have to do is looK back over our lives and know that GOD has truly blessed us individually and collectively. We have not been perfect but GOD keeps forgiving us, HE keeps on takingcare of us, and providing for us. I JUST CAN'T STOP PRAISING THE LORD!!!!
I love YOU and I pray that you will come and WORSHIP with us. May GOD continue to bless each and every one of you!!!!

We thank You, Dear God for 152 years of wonderful history at Salem Gilfield. We thank you for sending your first great leader of this church, African Bailey. He started us on this great journey from a simple Bush Arbor.
God is a Wonderful Provider! We thank Him for giving us a place where we can learn His word so that we could lift Him up with glorious songs and praise. We thank you Heavenly Father for sending your only Son, Jesus Christ, who died on that lonely cross to atone for our sins. Thank You, Jesus.
We come to you thanking you for the Christian men and women that taught us how to stay on the right path so that we could be with you on that Glorious and Happy Day. You have brought us from a mighty long way. You brought us, you kept us, and you never left us. Lord, sometimes the way got weary, but with your precious love, amazing grace, and never-ending forgiveness, we are strong and courageous servants.
Last, but not least, we give you thanks and honor for the beautiful Sanctuary that you gave us. We thank you, Lord for entrusting us with this beautiful Sanctuary so that we could continue to save souls. We welcome all to enjoy the many blessings you have bestowed upon us. Life is full of challenges, but the Salem Gilfield family continues to thrive because we are deeply seated in your love.
We welcome our family, friends and the community to come upon this hill while you are waiting for the scriptures to be fulfilled. Let us praise Him together, and nobody will be mad but the devil. Amen.

From the Pastor’s Heart
Greetings! My beloved, I greet you with the joy of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I am both humbled and grateful to God for His blessing us to celebrate 152 years as the Salem Gilfield Baptist Church. Church, what a Mighty God we serve! I am honored and truly count it a blessed privilege to be a part of this historic celebration. With great desire to worship our God, brother Rev. Africa Bailey started Mother Salem in a brush arbor. Truly, the Lord has been with her every step of the way. The rich history of Salem Gilfield is a true testimony to those who exemplified faith in God. Yes, the years have been challenging as our history will show, but what a great and exciting time she’s had. I must say these six (6) years I’ve shared with you have truly been a blessing in every way.
The Lord has blessed us with great worship, teaching, preaching, and of course fellowship. It is my hope in years to come (save the Lord’s coming) that we will continue to have more and more of His blessings through His “Word”. I think the Apostle Paul said it best in 1st Corinthians 2: 9-10, “But as it written, Eye hath not seen, nor ears heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God”.
So, as we gather today for worship and praise unto our God, I am overjoyed with excitement and jubilation. Today Salem Gilfield, we can celebrate a long and loving legacy of Christian service, uplifting those who have found themselves numbered with the least, the last and the lost. We can celebrate the fact that our church has a tradition of instilling into generation after generation the Word of our Lord Jesus Christ. It has been an honor for me to serve as Pastor for five (5) wonderful years. Again, it is my hope that the Lord Jesus Christ will continue to bless us and carry us another 152 years.
I am truly humbled to be a His servant, Jesus the Christ. Amen.

What is Prayer?
Prayer is a loving communication with God
Prayer is the expression of our inner Spiritual
needs. Through prayer, we can find- Strength
of Spirit, Guidance, Wisdom, Joy, and Inner
Peace. (Philippians 4: 6-8)
(6.) Do not be anxious about anything, but in
every situation, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
(7.) And the peace of God, which transcends
all understanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus. (8.) Finally,
brothers and sisters, whatever is true,
whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever
